Congratulations on deciding to purchase a home. The Lindley Team we understands that this can be a difficult and stressful process, which is why we’ve provided a checklist below to help you stay organized in the Portland mortgage process.

Make sure you have all your general information and documents together, this includes:

  • Your social security number
  • Your life insurance policy
  • Copy of divorce decree (if applicable)
  • Governmental financial assistance (if applicable)
  • Your credit card account information
  • All your personal loans account information (if applicable)
  • The type of vehicle(s) you drive (make and model)
  • Auto loan account information (if applicable)
  • Proof of income (pay stubs or tax returns)
  • Two months’ worth of bank statements
  • Retirement account information
  • If you own other properties,
    • state your mortgage information
    • home equity
    • home insurance

Also make sure that you have your credit report reviewed:

  • Ask us to pull your credit so we can review together
  • If your credit report has incorrect information, we’ll help you correct it ahead of time
  • We will evaluate whether actions need to be taken to improve your credit score and credit worthiness
  • Assess if you are financially ready to purchase a house

In some instances, we’ll need to document additional assets/income, in which case you will also need to provide additional financial information:

  • Show proof of money in the stock market (if applicable)
  • Proof of down payment funds and closing costs
  • Source and document funds that are gifted to you, and provide a letter of explanation
